Book of

The Einstein Theory of Relativity: A Trip to the Fourth Dimension, by Lillian Lieber

Straightforward language, cartoons by Hugh Lieber, and (high-school level) equations: by far the best explanation of relativity every written. Work through the first half of this book, and you will truly understand special relativity. Work through the whole book, and you’ll understand tensors and general relativity. I’m overjoyed to find this back in print — I used a very old copy it to teach myself relativity years ago, and it’s a resource that deserves to be available to more people.
